Job Description

At Best.Energy, we rely on our IT systems to connect our distributed workforce. We’re seeking an experienced IT Engineer / Manager who can join us, using his or her technological skills to make us more efficient. In this role, you will analyze our current systems and assets, recommend and implement solutions and upgrades, and provide training. Our ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of network maintenance, experience managing projects, developing processes and industry knowledge to keep us on the cutting edge. From day one, you’ll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations and directly contribute to IT compliance.

Objectives of this Role

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures inline with Information Security policies
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software
  • Track and maintain hardware and software inventory

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Analyze department needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency and accuracy to inform business decisions
  • Ensure network components meet needs and work together seamlessly, using the full range of capabilities, and stay informed about new features and competitive solutions
  • Continuously analyze current process, technologies, and vendors to identify areas of improvement
  • Prepare cost benefits analysis reports when upgrades are necessary, continuously analyzing vendors to ensure they offer the best possible service and value for company needs
  • Train employees on both software and hardware, troubleshoot, and provide technical support when needed
  • Develop and execute disaster procedures, and maintain data backups
  • Manage Google workspace services and and security policies
  • Working with HR to onboard and offboard employees, provisioning and deprovisioning access and asset management
  • Ensure ISO27001 compliance for related IT services
  • Threat and vulnerability analysis Network, firewall and router configuration
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems (Windows and Mac) and across a range of software applications
  • Configure, diagnose and resolve all network Issues including WiFi, Server, Comms and Firewalls in office and teleworking environments
  • Assist all users with any logged IT related incident when called upon

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science
  • 5+ years experience in IT management
  • Expertise with implementing, configuring, and testing solutions

We are looking for an IT Support Engineer responsible for maintaining and transforming the IT systems and processes at Best.Energy. Your primary focus will be the management and maintenance of the IT infrastructure ensuring the organisation is compliant to a number of security standards.

You will be working alongside the Information Security Manager to develop processes and standard operating procedures for all aspects of IT service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Google workspace services and and security policies
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for all IT related activities
  • Working with HR to onboard and offboard employees, provisioning and deprovisioning access and asset management
  • Ensure ISO27001 compliance for related IT services
  • Threat and vulnerability analysis Network, firewall and router configuration
  • Developing training materials and providing training for common IT activities
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems (Windows and Mac) and across a range of software applications
  • Configure, diagnose and resolve all network Issues including WiFi, Server, Comms and Firewalls in office and teleworking environments
  • Assist all users with any logged IT related incident when called upon
  • Triaging of request for support
  • Development and maintain company IT asset system
  • Install and configure new IT equipment
  • Decommission, wipe and destroy IT equipment
  • Resolve incidents and upgrade different types of software and hardware
  • Work under minimal direction and supervision
  • Maintain a first class level of customer service ensuring that all Users are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner

Required Skills

  • A strong understanding of maintaining IT systems and solving IT/network problems
  • Understanding of IT threat landscape
  • Security Operations – building solutions and documentation
  • Experience with Google Workspace for enterprise
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think logically to diagnose root causes(not trial & error, but a structured process of elimination)
  • Exemplary customer service attitude
  • Strong communication skills

Nice to have Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure would be advantageous
  • Experience with PowerBI would be advantageous
  • Linux system administration would be advantageous
